The 4th of July is a holiday celebrating the United States’ independence from Great Britain way back in 1776. The holiday is filled with fireworks, patriotic music, and a whole lot of fun, but in South Florida, the 4th of July means a little bit more.
The 4th of July is a reminder of how our South Florida communities always come together. It is a day where friends and families get together just to enjoy each other presence. It is a day where neighbors invite each other over for a beer, or parents take their kids to the park to watch the spectacular sights and sounds of fireworks.
The 4th of July is also a reminder that 245 years ago the entire United States came together to become the greatest nation on Earth. Just like how we still strive to come together now to face disasters and defeat evil. No matter what happens in our community we stand up and face it together.
So next time when you’re watching the fireworks, listening to music, or just having a good time with friends and family remember what the 4th is all about.
