The Weston Music Society presented its coveted Platinum Circle Award to Weston City Commissioner Thomas Kallman. The prestigious award recognizes outstanding individuals for their contributions to music in the Weston community. Commissioner Kallman has been a longtime supporter of the Weston Music Society and was instrumental in bringing music concerts of all genres and formats to town.
Toby Feuer, a longtime friend and former City Commissioner, presented the crystal award before the Summerfest Concert. During the speech, she credited Commissioner Kallman with producing ten highly successful “Free Concert in the Park” shows from 2005 to 2014. Those concerts, which grew into one of Broward County’s largest free outdoor concerts, were presented through a partnership between the Rotary Club of Weston and the City of Weston.
During the award presentation, Commissioner Kallman was also recognized for his continuous support of the Weston Music Society through professional expertise, financial support and attendance at its events.
“I am truly honored and humbled to be thought of and appreciated in this matter,” stated Commissioner Kallman.
“I have spent the majority of my life promoting live music within communities. That is my passion. I look forward to seeing the doors open on our long-awaited new state-of-the-art Community Center that will be an amazing venue for live performance. This new facility has been one of my main priorities for the past six years.”
Weston Music Society President Lou Marett commends Commissioner Kallman for his commitment to the arts in Weston. “It is because of passionate people like Tom that Weston enjoys a growing access to musical performances of all genres in our community and we thank him for his dedication and success.”
Commissioner Kallman has been an active member of the Weston business and cultural community for many years. He is President of Kallman Insurance Agency, has been a City Commissioner since 2012, is the former director and chairman of the Weston Business Council (an organization he helped establish in 2001), has been a member of the Rotary Club of Weston since 1998, served as the City Commission’s liaison to the Arts Council of Greater Weston, and was the installing officer for the Weston Music Society.
