Margate Update

By Mayor Anthony N. Caggiano

A quick look back is in order. The attendance at Margate’s Fourth of July Parade and at our evening Concert with a Fireworks display was beyond our expectations.Thank you to everyone who joined us for the celebration of our Nations birthday.Margate’s, nationally recognized, National Night Out (against crime) was also a huge success.Chief Shaw, once again you and your staff did a great job.I am constantly amazed at the amount of people who come to these events from other citiesThe pride that our residents have for Margate is exemplified by their bringing their friends to our events and showing them what Margate has to offer. Before you know it, our amazing Fall and Winter Festivals will be here.

If I’m even hinting about the Fall it must mean…..

It’s back to school time again. The 2019-2020 school year begins Wednesday, August 14, and that means school zones will once again be flashing their familiar 15-mile an hour warnings. Please respect the speed limit and keep our children safe as they walk and bicycle to school.

To our children, we know some of you are excited about starting a new school year, and some of you don’t want your summer break to be over. Either way, we wish you an incredible school year. If you study hard, listen to your teachers, and stay focused on your goals, you will have a successful year!

While we’re on the topic of starting a new school year, please know that Broward Health is hosting FREE immunizations for kids this summer. The Mobilize to Immunize program offers parents a free alternative to getting your kids immunized before the new school year begins. Free immunizations and physicals are designated for uninsured children, ages 4 to 18, only. A parent or legal guardian must be present and have the child’s current immunization record. Immunizations will take place from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays, July 29th, August 5th and August 12th, at the Margate Health Center, 5109 Coconut Creek Parkway.
