An emergency repair to the Andrews Avenue Drawbridge will be taking place tonight, August 28, 2018 to address a malfunction with the traffic resistance barrier on the north side of the bridge. The barrier raises from the roadway and blocks vehicles from traveling onto the bridge when it is being opened. Kiewit Infrastructure South Co., the contracted vendor for the Andrews Avenue Drawbridge Rehabilitation Project, will perform the repairs. The work will begin at 10PM tonight and will be completed before 4AM tomorrow, Wednesday, August 29, 2018, barring any unforeseen conditions or weather delays.
The purpose of the project is to address a malfunction that is keeping the traffic resistance barrier from working properly.
During the repair Andrews Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic from East Las Olas Boulevard to Southwest 5th Street. Pedestrian traffic and boat traffic will not be impacted. Vehicular traffic will be detoured onto Southeast 3rd Avenue. Variable message signs will be posted to warn affected motorists.
